These highlights summarize information from the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation report on Forest Insect and Disease Conditions in Vermont 2009. The complete annual report, as well as other Vermont forest health information, is posted on-line at http://www.vtfpr.org/protection/idfrontpage.cfm. Contact Forest Resource Protection personnel, or your County Forester, to receive a copy by mail or for assistance in identifying pests, diagnosing forest health problems, and to obtain defoliation maps or additional literature. They can also provide on-site evaluations, insect population sampling, management recommendations, and information if you wish to participate in invasive pest citizen monitoring.
